Yamilee Bastien has thirty years of experience advising companies as they navigate complex political and regulatory environments, both as a career diplomat and as an international business strategist and advisor.
She served as the Commercial Attaché at the U.S. Embassies in Brasilia, Brazil and Buenos Aires, Argentina, and as the Acting Regional Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, Colombia, where she covered the Andean countries and Panama. She has launched public-private partnerships and briefed senior leaders across government and industry, including as the Department of Commerce's Liaison Officer to U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), where she counseled leadership on supply chains, commercial diplomacy, and geopolitical risk.
In recognition of her commendable service to the DOD, she received the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs' Joint Civilian Commendation Award.
As founder of Fulcrum Ventures, she advises investors and corporations on deal flow and project development in the mining and infrastructure sectors, focusing on critical minerals in Latin America and the Caribbean. She is proficient in six languages (fully fluent in English, French, Spanish, and Haitian Creole; proficient in Italian and Portuguese) and holds an M.A. degree in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University SAIS.
